Gorgeous New Greenhouse!

I have had a real stroke of luck. A member of our local Plant Heritage Group has moved house and must remove his 12′ x 10′ Eden aluminium greenhouse before the end of the month as the new owner doesn’t want it!! He is happy for someone to have it if they remove it so……….it is going to be mine!

It is around 12 years old and has a few broken panes of glass but I don’t care, I love it! As an added bonus, it has an internal middle partition with the same double sliding doors so I will be able to heat one end independently in the winter.

Oddly enough, I was just saying to Cathy the other day that I could do with another greenhouse and then this happens out of the blue. It must be fate!

The gentleman that owned it developed a wonderful garden over 28 years including a National Collection of species Pelargoniums so I feel very privileged to be taking it over. Dismantling a large greenhouse and transporting it to a new address, particularly with over 100 panes of glass, is not going to be straightforward but I am up for the challenge. I am not sure whether I can get the base and perimeter footing down before the winter but I would like to get it up and running as soon as possible. I am very impatient!

This second greenhouse will give me more propagation space and allow me to grow so many new plants like perpetual carnations, something I have longed to do, store my tender Cannas and Agapanthus over winter and grow tomatoes in the ground rather than in pots or gro-bags. My current 12′ x 6′ lean-to greenhouse will be turned over totally to raising plants from seed and cuttings throughout the year.

I have cleared the staging, shelving and bubble wrap insulation and will start dismantling on Monday. More on this exciting story over the next few days!
