About

Our home is in the south east corner of Cheltenham in Gloucestershire, nestled beneath the Cotswold escarpment. I retired at 58 after being made redundant from a demanding role as Regional Sales Director for a large housebuilding company. I still need to have focus and direction and to achieve goals every day. I am passionate about gardening, and enjoy writing and photography so this blog serves many purposes for me. It helps me to think, plan and review my ideas and achievements in words and pictures.
I am mad about colour and scent, the stronger the better. I don’t follow conventional rules, I try lots of things and keep what works. My wife and I moved here three years ago, cleared the garden and started again from scratch. We garden on alkaline Cotswold clay, difficult to work with but full of nutrients. Loads of manure and compost added every year. Gradually finding out what thrives and what struggles. No point in flogging a dead horse!
Married to my best friend and soul mate for 40 years. Three wonderful grown up children, no grandchildren ….yet!
Looking forward to a long, happy and fulfilling retirement enjoying my garden, learning every day, keeping as fit as possible and loving and caring for my wonderful wife and family.
